Hapoel lost in the cup quarter-finals

Hapoel "Shlomo" Tel Aviv lost 84:79 to Hapoel Jerusalem and ended its path in the State Cup in the quarterfinals.

 

Jerusalem started with Speedy Smith, Orr Cornelius, Levi Randolph, Nimrod Levy and Zach Hankins,Hapoel with Will Cummings, Brian Angola, John Holland, Tomer Ginat and Kyle Alexander. The two big men, Alexander and Hankins, were the main implementers in the first minutes, Holland and Kadin Carrington - who came off the bench - exchanged three-pointers and Alexander made his own shot from outside to make it 9:11 in the middle of the first quarter. Jaylen Hoard and Chris Johnson came off the bench and contributed, Ginat scored another three-pointer, Randolph responded with a first basket, but Alexander in a three-point move gave the guests a 15:19 advantage after ten minutes.

 

Alexander continued to score, Jerusalem left many points on the line, Smith and Bar Timor scored first baskets and Bar Timor gave Holland an assist for an easy basket 20:25. Another assist by Timor, this time for Alexander's dunk, sent Hapoel Jerusalem to a timeout, Hankins equalized the score, 27:27. Hurd temporarily regained the lead, but Yuval Sussman, Randolph and Johnson scored 0:8 and established a 31:37 lead for Hapoel Jerusalem at the break.

 

Tomer Ginat scored the first points of the second half from the line, but three-pointers by Randolph and Smith opened a double-digit gap, 35:45. Hankins continued to score on the way to the 4:18 run, Ginat scored in the paint after a beautiful ball movement and Angola brought it down to single digits from the line, 47:38. Carrington scored another three after a Jerusalem offensive rebound, Angola penetrated well but Smith responded with a basket with the buzzer for the shot clock and Hankins made it 40:54 with a basket and a foul. Holland scored two of his own, Carrington also established a record difference of 15 points, but Bar Timor managed to shrink to 59:52 alongside Alexander. Cornelius scored from the line, and a 3-pointer by Randolph at the buzzer closed the quarter with a 52:64 lead for the hosts.

 

Yuval Zussman scored the first two baskets of the fourth quarter, Angola managed to reduce a little but Hankins responded with a basket and a foul, 57:70. Carrington scored a three-pointer and Johnson - after another offensive rebound - made it 62:75 from the line in the middle of the fourth quarter. Tomer Ginat scored five consecutive points, but Randolph and Hankins with another move of a basket and a foul kept the gap, 67:80. Hapoel pressed all over the court and with a 0-10 run of ten it reached a distance of three in the last minute, Zussman missed twice from the line after an flagrant foul but Randolph made it 77:82, 18 seconds to the end. Hapoel came back from a timeout with a drill that produced a quick dunk by Alexander, but Randolph again hit twice from the line and set the final score, 79:84.
